Position Announcement Community Outreach Specialist/Latino Ombudsman The City of West Chicago, Illinois is seeking a bilingual Community Outreach Specialist who will play a key role in promoting and coordinating services and opportunities offered by the City. This individual will develop and implement programs to increase community awareness of programs and services, targeting the Spanish speaking population and also conduct assessments to identify conditions, barriers and factors that are limiting the Latino population from understanding and/or accessing City services and developing detailed strategies to address them. This position is part of the Administration Department and reports directly to the City Administrator. Position will also be responsible for developing and translating materials in Spanish to ensure effective communication with the Latino Community. Position requires: Equivalent to a Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university with major coursework in Human Service Discipline (e.g. social work, sociology, psychology, public policy, etc.) or a related field. Four years of increasingly responsible experience in community based work such as advocacy and/or serving as a liaison/ombudsman with the Spanish speaking population. Bilingual - English/Spanish required. Salary range: $63,674 - $89,144.
