Notice to Bidders Bid 14-038 Repairing and Repainting the Interior and Exterior of One 500,000 Gallon Steel Elevated Tank, "Airlite Tank," in Elgin, Illinois The City of Elgin, Illinois does hereby invite sealed bids for Repairing and Repainting the Interior and Exterior of One 500,000 Gallon Steel Elevated Tank, "Airlite Tank," in Elgin, Illinois until 11:00 A.M. local time, September 18, 2014 at 11:00 am. At that time the bids will be publicly opened and read at the Purchasing Department in the City Hall located at 150 Dexter Court, Elgin, Illinois 60120. The project includes the following work: The complete cleaning and repainting of one 500,000 gallon steel elevated tank, "Airlite Tank," in Elgin, Illinois, on the interior surfaces, and the complete cleaning and repainting of the exterior surfaces with containment. Additional Work items include: repair of concrete and grout; installation of a new cathodic protection system, strut drain holes, elastomeric check valve at discharge end of overflow pipe, antenna cable ladder, ladders, safe-climbing devices, vandal deterrent, balcony safety railing, riser safety grate, transition cone safety railing, protective cover for inlet/outlet pipe, riser manhole, roof manhole, obstruction light, and clog-resistant vent; modification of diagonal bracing rod pins, riser rod pins, and balcony access opening; removal of two abandoned brackets on roof; including other miscellaneous repairs and incidental items. The Bidders attention is directed to the Detailed Technical Specifications for a complete description of the Work and the Project. Work is anticipated to be performed in spring 2015; and an alternate bid item for performance of work in fall 2014 is being solicited as well. Bids are to be submitted on the forms furnished within the contract document books, properly executed in accordance with the directions contained in the Information for Bidders. All bids must be accompanied by a Bid Bond, Certified or Cashier's Check or a Bank Draft in an amount equal to at least five percent (5%) of the bid, payable without condition to the City of Elgin, Illinois, which sum shall be forfeited in case the successful bidder fails to enter into a binding contract and provide a properly executed contract surety bond within 15 days after the date the contract is awarded by the City Council. The successful bidder, prior to the start of work, shall be required to furnish a satisfactory performance and payment bond to the City of Elgin by a surety company authorized to do business in the State of Illinois covering the full amount of the contract. The successful bidder shall pay prevailing wage, shall provide certified payrolls to the City and comply with the Responsible Bidder's Ordinance and the City of Elgin's Residency Ordinance for the duration of the Project. The bidder shall submit, if requested by the Engineering Department, a list of qualified references for projects of similar size and scope of this project. Proposals withdrawn may not be resubmitted at the same letting. Each bidder shall satisfy the City as to their ability, financially or otherwise, to carry out the work. The City of Elgin reserves the right to reject any or all bids and/or to waive technicalities and any informality in any bid. Notice to Bidders Bid 14-040 Bid 14-040 Remington at Providence & Remington Meadows - Tree Removal & Planting Sealed bids will be received by the Purchasing Director of the City of Elgin, Illinois, until 11:00 A.M. local time, September 16, 2014, for the Remington at Providence & Remington Meadows - Tree Removal and Planting project. At that time the bids will be publicly opened and read at the Purchasing Department in the City Hall located at 150 Dexter Court, Elgin, Illinois 60120. The proposed improvement includes the following work: Remington at Providence: The following contract consists of planting approximately 131 trees and removing 17 trees. The trees are located on City of Elgin owned Right Of Way in the Remington at Providence. The trees will be planted on the following streets; Nesler Road, Pawtucket Avenue, Prescott Avenue, Batley Street, Lafayette Street, Rumford Blvd, Wanskuck Street and Stratton Street. One Hundred Fifteen (115) of the 131 trees will be in locations that previously did not have a tree. Sixteen (16) trees will be planted in locations that currently have a tree, mostly ash. One (1) tree will be removed and not replaced. The improvement also includes parkway restoration and all other appurtenant work and materials necessary to complete the project. Remington Meadows: The following contract consists of planting approximately 69 trees and removing 3 trees. The trees are located on City of Elgin owned Right Of Way in the Remington Meadows subdivision. The trees will be planted on the following streets; Water Road, Kyra Lane, and Copper Springs Lane. Fifty Seven (57) of the 60 trees will be in locations that previously did not have a tree. Three (3) trees will be planted in locations that currently have a tree. The improvement also includes parkway restoration and all other appurtenant work and materials necessary to complete the project. Notice to Bidders Bid Number 14-039 Sealed bids will be received by the Purchasing Department, 150 Dexter Court, Elgin, Illinois until 11:00 A.M., local time, on Wednesday, September 10, 2014 for the McLean Boulevard - Meyer to Big Timber Resurfacing 2014 & 2015 (Bid Number 14-038).
